Picked up this catfish last night at Forest Lake Pets in MN for $6 because they had no idea what it was and it wasn't labeled. Hopefully this was a cool little pickup :-)

It looks like either a Pimelodus of some sort, or a Mystus catfish. It is one or the other. If you have a picture of the fish out of the bag, and in a tank, with his dorsal fin and tail some what erect and normal, I could probably ID it for you. I have a pretty complete book on catfish, that has most of the Catfish avail. on the market. I have also kept many many different types of catfish over my many years of fish keeping. If you get me a better picture, I can almost certainly ID it for you.

I don not think so Larry: He looks like he has a forked tail. The eel tailed has a rounded Flat Tail. Maybe Josh can help us, Does he have a forked tail or flat and rouned like an eel?

Forked tail, i found out last night it is a Rhamdia Quelen, a hard to find catfish from SA that i guess isn't commonly available :-)

So: They are a Sub spieces of the Pimelodus. I thought that is what it was. So it does confirm my initial Indentificcation. These guys do get quite large up to 13.6 inches. Quite a bit larger than most in the family.
