View Full Version : Lost 2 fish last night

Well I lost a Placidochromis electra and an OB peacock last night. They were in my 120 all male tank. A lot of the peacocks look like they have been chewed on. No signs or symptoms. 75% WC and dosing with Melafix right now. They were doing quite bad last night, thought I was gonna lose A. lwanda, A sp. "Turkis" and A. maulana last night. Thankfully they look a lot better this morning.

Here are the two that I lost:

Sorry to hear of your loss. I lost a fish Friday night. It was the wolf gush I recently bought. Had it about 2 months at most, never saw it eat.

I am just about to the end of trying to help others out by buying their monsters. I just don't have luck that way.

sorry for the loss .
i some time think that we go a little over board on wanting there water to be so perfect
that we over clean the tanks . like oil in your motor just because it looks dorty dose not mean it is bad .
a simple test strip to check the water is some times better than a 40.00 dollar test kit and your nose is even better
some time just take a smell of your tank , if the water has a bad oder then it needs changed and a 75 to 85 % is a good ideal .
when any one cleans there filters don`t kleen them all in the tank do 1/2 this time and the others the next time .
you will still have a cleaner tank but maintain bacteria to clean the water .

Sorry you lost the Placidochromis.

Have you checked water temp lately?

Yeah, it's on a digital. I see it all day long since the tank is in my living room. They are all looking much better today, so I'm not too worried.

Thanks for the warm thoughts everyone!

That is what I've heard, I check it every 4 weeks or so and it's never been off. I bought another one and it was a piece, same brand too.

Did you find the reason for death? Did you have the chilo try to breed and get aggressive? I know with all the weather latly my fishroom has went a little nuts.
