The MCA works as an online organization acting as the main body of the club, wherein we have local chapters of the MCA which allows hobbyists to hold swapmeets or auctions at a local level, while still helping to spark more interest in the main club. The local chapter works as a promotional medium for the main club. The main club can then provide the local chapter with whatever help they may need as in organizing & promoting events, providing promotional materials & advice, & just providing support from a much larger community of hobbyists that you might not get at the local level.

Many hobbyists live in an area where there isn't a local club & don't know how to go about starting one, or they have a local club but it doesn't appeal to them because there is not a focus on cichlids which interests them, or there are many other possible reasons they may not have an interest in a local aquaria club. We know that many people just don't like the way most older established fish clubs are ran with the bureaucracy & wider focus on all aquaria, when all the cichlid hobbyist really cares about is cichlids, where to get more, who wants their fry, & maybe a catfish thrown in for good measure. What we're trying to say is, the focus of a fish club should be on the fish; not governing the club or worrying about building the club's bank account. We think that the MCA is the answer.

The local hobbyists can have their own club in the form of an MCA Chapter, & they also have the larger club online all year long with a bigger body of hobbyists with interests similar to their own, & then the MCA EXPO can function as an annual MCA Convention where all of these members can then get together to learn more about the hobby, swap & sell fish, & just to have fun with other people that have the same addictions, errr....hobby. Sorry, Freudian slip.

We would love to see an MCA Chapter in each Midwestern state. Maybe even 2 or 3 chapters in each state. Maybe that sounds like we're bent on world domination. It really isn't. We only want to provide a club that is friendly to the cichlid hobbyist, where they can share their passion with others with the same interests, provide or get information about the hobby they love, & be able to network with other hobbyists to get fish that they may not be able to get in their local area.

We currently have 10 MCA Chapters:
    INDY CHAPTER
    INDIANA CHAPTER
    IOWA CHAPTER
    KANSAS CITY CHAPTER
    MINNESOTA CHAPTER
    NEBRASKA CHAPTER
    OKLAHOMA CHAPTER
    SOUTH DAKOTA CHAPTER
    ST. LOUIS CHAPTER
    WISCONSIN CHAPTER

Water is the only thing that has been in the tank since it was new? If not, have you kept fish in it without issue? Go to last post
