what type of sand do you use?

I was wondering what type of sand you all use? I have seen where people are saying that construction sand works fine. I am just a bit unsure of this. Is there a brand name of river sand/construction sand to use? I am going to need around 250 to 300lbs. of sand. i just cant see purchasing 300 lbs of carib cichlid sand at 15 bucks for 20lb. also if you know where I could get sand near Winchester Indiana that is suitable to use please let me know.

I use pool filter sand... Home Depot supposedly carries it... or your local pool supply store should have it.

I've used regualr ol' Play Sand... I wasn't happy with it though...

Lots of people use blasting sand...

3M makes a product called Color Quartz that it supposed to work great, but I've never been able to locate any.

And 300 lbs is ALOT of sand... Is this for a huge tank, or are you filling many many tanks?

I've heard people say to stay away from sand-blasting sand. It supposedly contains metal particles and other stuff besides sand.
I haven't verified this - it's just what I've heard from various people.

Tahitian moon sand looks great but is very spendy.

I'd go with pool filter sand if you can find it.
